Hungarian Plum Cake

  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon Almond Extract
  • 10 plums
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon (for topping)
  • 1/2 cup sugar (for topping)


  1. Let hot water run in mixing bowl to heat and then dry. Put butter and cream in bowl. Add sugar and 1 egg. Beat well. Add second egg and beat well. Add flour, baking powder, and salt. Mix well and add almond extract. Spread batter into greased deep pie plate.
  2. Cut plums in half and remove pits. DO NOT PEEL. Arrange in rows with skin side down. Press lightly into place. Sprinkle with topping.
  3. Bake at 350 degrees for 30-40 min until golden brown.
