  • 1 1/2 cup White Sugar
  • 1 cup Butter
  • 1 Egg
  • 1/2 cup Water
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla
  • 1 1/2 cups Flour
  • 1/3 cup Powdered baking cocoa
  • 1/2 teaspoon Baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon Salt
  • 3 cups Old fashioned oatmeal
  • 6 oz Semisweet chocolate chips
  • 1/4 cup Pecans


  1. We found this recipe on a Quaker Oats box long ago. Start by pre-heating oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Mix white sugar, butter, egg, water and vanilla in a large mixing bowl. Then mix flour, powdered baking cocoa, baking soda and salt in a separate mixing bowl.
  3. Add flour mixture to bowl with sugar mixture and combine until well blended. To this dough add old fashioned oatmeal, semisweet chocolate chips and pecans, mix well.
  4. Chill finished dough mix for one hour. Roll dough into balls (about 2 Tablespoons per ball) and place on no-stick cookie sheet.
  5. Bake at 350 degrees for 10-12 minutes. Be sure to have plenty of cold milk on hand when serving.
