We stayed over Christmas weekend. The Inn was beautifully decorated for the holidays. It was quaint and homey. We enjoyed the Inn and the surrounding area.

Great location if you like being in the middle of everything and right next to a bar with a band. You can walk all over downtown and never have to drive. There was a used bar of soap in the shower, dried suds from bathing on the shower walls, and sad neglect throughout. Would stay again for an overnight to party and not expect much is the way of cleaning.

Located in the heart of Fernandina Beach with access to fine restaurants and shopping. The Inn has an Old Florida charm feel with a lot of history to it. Breakfast at the inn is a must. I hear the lunch there is great as well. We have been there a couple of times and will continue to stay there. The staff is helpful and friendly.

On the positive side this Inn has many things to offer: You are right there in the middle of all the happenings in Fernandina Beach, the Inn is historic, there is a bar and a restaurant serving delicious food on the property, there is available parking. On the negative side: The rooms (at least our room) needed a little extra coziness added. Our room could have used a rug on the bare hardwood floor, a comfortable chair to sit in would have been nice (the only chair was a wooden hardback chair pushed up to a desk), fluffy bath towels and enough hand towels would have been nice (we had one hand towel to share between the two of us), a soap dish on our wooden sink vanity would be a good idea, and a thorough dusting of the gas logs in the fireplace would have shown attention to detail. We also got in later than expected when no one was in the office. Directions ahead of time in those situations would have been nice. We kept calling and finally did talk to someone in the bar, who took care of us.

Very charming place to stay with a nice bar and outside areas to enjoy. We enjoyed our drinks sitting on the porch on the 2nd floor while listening to live music being performed at the tavern next door.

I wanted to LOVE this place but it was a little disappointing. The room was cute, but needed some TLC. We had a table and chairs outside the room, overlooking a cute patio - but they were dirty and rusty. The staff was very nice. The breakfast in the morning looked just average - It looked like it had been sitting a while and the breakfast room was family style tables with no open chairs ... so we left and went out for breakfast. There is a bar RIGHT NEXT DOOR (practically on the property) with a live band, so if you want a quiet night choose another Inn. We arrived on a Friday night after driving all day and would have liked a quieter place. I felt it was a little ‘over-proced’ for what we got. We probably won’t be back.

We enjoyed our one night stay in the Bridal Suite for our anniversary. The room was spacious and very clean. The inn is in a great location downtown, walking distance to great restaurants and shopping. It would be nice if the website had more up-to-date information about events going on at the inn: the night we stayed, the mermaid bar was closed for a private event. It wasn't a huge deal to us, but it would have been nice to know. There also seems to be a discrepancy between the website and the inn policy as the website says late checkouts are available for $10 per hour as late as 1pm and the desk clerk told us 12pm was the latest and it was $15 per hour. Again, not a huge deal, but correct information on the website would be helpful.

This room is overtop a bar with live music on the weekends. It shuts down before 11:00 or close to it. I would not book it again for that reason. Breakfast was well done. The bar maid was kind and helpful. Bed rolled in the middle a good piece of plywood in the middle would help.

I was pretty excited to take my wife away for our 14th anniversary and thought this place would be a special place. While we enjoyed the downtown experience of Amelia Island we were less than impressed with the Florida House Inn. The room was OK but we've stayed in a number of great B&B's that didn't cost nearly $200 per night and were better satisfied than with this experience. The room seemed quite dusty as we began to sneeze upon walking in, the bed was quite firm and the Jacuzzi tub took what seemed like eternity to fill enough to enjoy a hot bath. Another disappointment was the breakfast. It seemed that prior reviews lauded the morning spread and we were really looking forward to it only to be met with a very basic quiche, over done sausage and a few other menial things.(Truly we've had a better free "continental" breakfast at a hotel costing $50 per night.) Finally, we were saddened by the lack of warm reception or interaction. From check in to check out we were not greeted even once. While privacy is nice our fondest memories of prior B&B's have been rich and warm conversation with the inn keepers. The location was very nice (Amelia) , however the experience certainly didn't call us to ever return again. We overheard one guest say they come every year and we wondered "Why?".
