Pam went out of her way to take care of us and was very kind, even as she was recovering from a sickness. We ended up not keeping our reservation, and she was very flexible with our changed plans. The rooms do seem overpriced, I hate to say it but I think it's true. Please note that when the rooms say they have wood stoves, that's ALL the heat they have - we didn't notice the absence of central heating in the description for some rooms, which was relevant to us in 30 degree temperatures and recovering from illnesses that we'd picked up on the plane. They also have no locks. We were assured the area was safe, but still a little strange. We checked on our phones for wifi and didn't find any - although maybe they had forgotten to turn it on (we didn't end up staying because it was too cold and drafty, so we didn't follow up). The horse rides had very little educational component, even for small children. It was just "get on the horse and walk around." Pam had mentioned learning how to feed and meeting the horses - I'm not sure why that didn't happen. Maybe a miscommunication between her and Manny. Still, the children loved the horses, so we may come back any way. It's nice that the model isn't "pony line" but that you get to do your own thing when you're on the horse. The Overlook Room really does have a lovely view. In warmer weather, it would be nice to sit on the porch in the evening and watch the sunset. Some of the decorative touches were very charming. The dogs were friendly (we didn't bring a dog with us). Note: we didn't eat at the ranch, so we put a 5 star score just to give them the benefit of the doubt.

Wonderful hosts ushered us into a very nice Thanksgiving holiday. We stayed in the Saddle house and were very comfortable there. Pam and Larry were incredibly hospitable and understanding. We will definitely go back.

We were just looking for a room to stay so we could attend my brother's wedding. It was a delightful surprise to meet Pam and Larry and to experience the rich cultural flavor of the ranch. We spent a good bit of time with the horses and listening to stories about the property and local history. We have set it in our minds as a future destination and hope to return with more family.

I really enjoyed my night at Seventy four ranch. Pam, Larry, and the ranch hands were all great, as were the other guests. I stayed in the Cowboy Cabin and found it to be a fun experience. Breakfast was excellent. It was just as you would expect a working ranch to be. If I wanted prim and proper, I would have stayed in Bulkhead and paid twice the price. Thanks, Larry and Pam, et.al. for a great night!!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the ranch. The staff was very friendly, courteous and helpful. Helped my granddaughter, who had never been around horses and said she was not going to touch or ride a horse, learn to ride, clean out hooves, bath and brush a horse, ride the horse and be able to stay on the horse as he got up from laying down. Our family is planning to have our Thanksgiving dinner and outing at the ranch. Recommend the ranch for a peaceful and enjoying weekend. I stayed in the cowboy's cabin and loved it.

Me and my wife stayed here from April 5th thru April 9th, 2013. We went to the Final Four basketball games in Atlanta and wanted to stay somewhere fun within driving range of Atlanta. This place was wonderful! The house is beautiful. We stayed in the Blue Room. The breakfasts are delicious and Pam is flexible on the times which was good for us as we were getting back late from the games, especially the Championship one on Monday night (where Louisville won, GO CARDS!). The land is fabulous with horses and lots of friendly dogs! I enjoyed sitting outside and reading and drinking coffee every morning and afternoon. Pam and Larry are very friendly owners with some great stories to tell. The nearby town of Talking Rock has some good antique shops and Jasper has plently of restaurants. Highly recommended!

A fun place to stay. Dogs and horses everywhere. Every inch of the place meticulously decorated in a ranch theme. Authentic ranchers. Delicious and unique breakfasts. Horseback riding on 50+ acres. Who could ask for more, we'll be back.

My wife and I have been to quite a number of exclusive b&b's throughout the country, but nothing truly compares to the Seventy-four Ranch. The Overlook is pure rustic luxury, with a beautiful vista of a rolling pasture, embroidered hardwood paneling, couch, plenty of extra space, and even a porch with chairs -- the pictures on the website frankly just don't do it justice. We stayed on a cold, winter night and I had great fun making it perfectly cozy with the wood burning stove. The animals on the estate are for real. Pam was very informative about the locale, and it was obvious she loves what she does. What's more, she was very accommodating even after I had to change my travel dates several times. The next morning I even met a real, live cowboy wearing chaps who tames mustangs in his spare time. What an authentic ranch!

It is rare to find such a slice of heaven so close to home! My wife and I packed up two of our dogs and headed North to the Seventy-four Ranch in Jasper this weekend, and were rewarded with an outstanding Bed & Breakfast experience. The rustic motif is well executed at the Seventy-four Ranch, from the antique tub to the Native American rug. Our stay in the Overlook Room transported us back to a simpler time in history, blended with just the right touch of modern amenities. The conversation with the proprietors was lively and intelligent, the breakfast meals were five-star quality and the three-acre fenced yard was much appreciated by our dogs. Local restaurants rounded out our stay with quality dinners. Before we left, we were planning our next vist to this wonderful getaway! Whether you're looking for a rustic adventure or a romantic weekend, the Seventy-four Ranch has something for all (and the dogs LOVE it!).
