Last Saturday My family celebrated my mother’s 86th Birthday with a delectable brunch at The Gables BnB. Cesar and Ricky were very gracious host to our little party. We were warmly welcomed into their beautiful home. We all received the grand tour and was delighted at all of the well preserved antiques adorning each room. Thank you Cesar and Ricky for making mama feel like a Queen! ¿¿

We give The Gables “5 Stars” as an outstanding location for any event, from an over-night to a weekend stay to a wedding weekend! We have been loyal visitors for 5 years whenever we visit Philadelphia from our home in California. This month we went all in – we rented the entire Gables, all 10 rooms, for a family wedding weekend, and it was great! Co-owners Cesar and Rick went “all in” too! They were cheerfully available to help with everything, from their terrific breakfasts in the morning to helping with our late night hospitality gatherings. Most important, they and even their family members helped us in hosting the wedding itself, which we held there at The Gables! The weather at the beginning of December was so warm that the bride and groom actually shifted the wedding from inside to outside in the yard with their seemless help. All of our family members, from ages 14 to 80, who stayed in the various rooms at The Gables loved it. They have been effusive in their praise of Cesar and Rick and of how much they enjoyed the Victorian style of their rooms, the common spaces, and the wonderful breakfasts and home-baked cookies (especially loved by the teenagers). We cannot overstate how much we recommend The Gables to anyone visiting Philadelphia and especially those looking for a special event venue.

My Wedding was a dream come true here at the gables. The intakers were there for my husband and I each time that we needed them. From the moment that we arrived I felt like a queen. We stayed in the Victorian Suite of course and inside the parlor my husband and I shared a large box of pizza and we were provided with a beautiful tablecloth and bottle of moscato my favorite. The staff was kind and attentive. The entire mansion is so beautiful, every part is picture worthy. The morning of my wedding there was a beautiful spread of breakfast laid out milk, juice and fruit. I had eggs Benedict brought up to my suite as I had my makeup done. Delicious!!! The ceremony was beautiful and the garden was beautiful as well. My florist was able to setup a beautiful table with raspberries and roses with a beautiful naked cake made by my husband. The next morning The gables welcomed my mother to come back for breakfast and we all sat at the beautiful table and ate. That I will never forget. Everything was wonderful at the gables and I plan on staying there at each chance i can get. Its magical there!

We stayed in the regent room for 2 nights. The room was spacious and the beds were very comfortable. The breakfasts were good served buffet style. The owners were friendly and offered help. This is a residential neighborhood. There are restaurants 2 blocks away. The trolley passes right in front of the inn so you can park your car and take it downtown. Very convenient. Overall the stay was great.

It is a beautiful old house with so many decorations such old vases, pictures and lamps. The owner is a gentleman and the breakfast was typical American style. It was a very precious experience to stay in such a house.

This is our second stay at the the Gables. The property is well-managed and also well appointed with a fabulous collection of 19th and early 20th century antique furniture, glassware, lamps, and silver pieces. Breakfast was home-cooked and tasty. Location on a quiet street not far from Univ of Penn and only a $8 Uber ride to downtown was excellent. There are also many restaurants in the area. And there's an intelligent poodle should you wish some canine companionship.

This is a B&B from 1880. The architecture is amazing. It is filled with antiques. It is also updated throughout. The rooms have window ac units with fans also. The bathroom had an exhaust fan and a heat lamp. Each room has a separate key. You also get a key to the house. They have free WiFi. The breakfast was great. It has cereals, fresh fruit, eggs, sausage, juice, tea, coffee. One morning they had homemade apple muffins. Another morning they had asparagus quiche. It's in a nice neighborhood. You can walk to several restaurants. There is a park at the end of the block. The landscaping is nice also. There is a hammock in the garden to relax in also.

My daughter lives in West Philly and invited out-of-town family members for a birthday celebration. The hotels in the University City area are not really walkable to her home for the older members of the group so decided to try The Gables. Just a couple of blocks from my daughter's home, The Gables was the perfect choice. We had a room on the 3rd floor of the beautifully restored home, 2 beds, beautifully furnished, very nice updated bathroom. Hot and cold reakfast options, snacks and beverages available all day, small business center. Room was quiet, except for the drone of the small window AC unit. I would recommend this property to anyone wanting to stay in this fun neighborhood which has lots of restaurants, shops, great architecture.

We love The Gables and are making our way through its many bedrooms when we come to Philly to visit our daughters. Everything is just so, the hosts are friendly and helpful, The Gables is close to everything! The only improvement would be - half and half for the morning coffee.

This B and B is a real gem. The rooms are comfortable, always spotless and the innkeepers are gracious. Perfect every time.
This room is home to a collection of country Victorian antiques that you might find in grandma’s attic. There is a grand four poster queen sized bed, an impressive walnut armoire and two matching dressers, an ornate rocker, lots of quilts and a big, cozy armchair for relaxing and reading. The attached bathroom is tiled in white marble and has a shower.
This spacious, sunlit room has two twin sized beds, and a big, comfortable leather sofa. This room is the most recently redecorated and is one of the guests' favorite mixing influences of old and new. A twin-sized rollaway bed can be added upon request to accommodate a third guest. A private bathroom with shower is attached to the room.
An antique wrought iron table with chairs set in the turret makes it hard to resist sitting still for a moment to gaze out the windows through the delicate white lace. Two wing-back chairs adorn the fireplace and bids one to take time to sit back in style. This room has a queen-sized four poster bed, a hope chest and uniquely styled armoire. There is an attached bathroom with shower. The sink is located in an alcove of the room. A large collection of imported blue and white plates fills the walls with fascinating scenes.
Once the master bedroom of the house, this room is our most romantic with a queen sized canopy bed draped in white lace, an elegantly carved armoire, rotating library cabinet, and electric fireplace. A floral wallpaper graces the walls and oriental rugs cover the floors. In 1901 a large bathroom and glassed in sitting area was added. This enclosed porch is a great little reading and conversation nook. The bathroom still has the original soaking tub with shower and a large 4-legged sink. Rates include limited free off-street parking on the premises (on a first come, first served basis), or free street parking, and a full breakfast. The Victorian Suite has cable TV, VCR/DVD player in the bedroom as well a a small flat screen tv in the sitting area. It also has an alarm clock, hair dryer, fine linens, plush towels and terry cloth robes. Guests can access free wireless internet. All rooms are equipped with individually controlled air conditioning and heating units. A computer station with p
The turret windows and working gas fireplace fill this room with warmth and elegance. It has a queen-sized brass bed, oak armoire, tall dresser, and washstand along with a Victorian parlor set upholstered in green velvet. There is a sink en suite and a private water closet with toilet and shower.
This room is named for the doctor's family who first owned the house back in 1889. It is wallpapered in a classic blue and white toile print and furnished with a white wrought iron queen-sized bed, pine armoire, dresser with large mirror and comfortable boudoir chair. There is a sink en chambre. This room has a private bath which you gain access to from the hallway. It has a clawfoot tub with shower.
Two twin antique brass beds sit on both sides of a magnificent mirrored fruitwood armoire. A Civil War era sofa, Eastlake style tall mirrored dresser, barrister cabinet, drop leaf table with chair, and lots of windows make this room a treasure chest of antiques. A twin-sized rollaway bed can be added upon request to accommodate a third guest. This room shares the adjacent hall bathroom with the East Room.
In the Library you can snuggle up with lots of books either on the queen sized brass bed or on the red loveseat or wing backed chair. It is the quietest room in the house, thus its name. The walls, draperies and down comforter are all coordinated in a leafy burgundy and cream Waverly print. An attached bathroom with shower is tiled in white marble.
A striking queen-sized antique wood bed sits at an angle to complement the corner decorative tiled fireplace. Set in front of the fireplace is a comfortable reading chair. An old RCA Victrola, oak armoire and dresser complete this room. There is a sink in the room and a full bathroom with shower is down the hall, The South Room shares the hall bathroom.
Aptly named The Garden Room as this room overlooks the side yard with plush trees and shrubs and peaceful seating areas around the colorful garden. It has a high backed Victorian queen sized bed, a chifforobe, and two comfortable overstuffed chairs. The private attached bathroom has a shower and is wallpapered in a floral print to match the room.
