This is such a beautiful place to stay. Bruce and Katherine make everything so easy. From all the emails, checking in and just the stay itself. Couldn't of asked for more. They even prepared a thoughtful breakfast to go. I could go on and on, but just stay here and you will see what a wonderful B and B and what great host they are.

My husband and I stayed at the Bloomsbury Inn for two weekends in September just prior to him deploying and I couldn't have been more happy with our decision to stay at Bloomsbury Inn. First off the Inn is maintained immaculately and our innkeepers were amazing hosts between lavish brunch both Sundays, Bruce's wonderful history of the property, and Saturday afternoon social we felt at home and indulged at once. We stayed in both the General Chestnut and Mary Chestnut Bedrooms. The rooms were pristine, we were greeted with wine and flowers (romance package) and the setting was perfect after a month of not seeing each other while he was at training. This was our first deployment and trip after having our daughter so these weekend escapes before he left were precious time that I would gladly spend again at the Bloomsbury Inn. We look forward to our future visits!

My sister and I stayed for a night and it was charming, warm, and educational. The room was so beautifully decorated and everything we could possibly need was thought of in advance of our stay. We enjoyed the history of this home and its occupants. The tea and snack in the evening was great and breakfast in the "Peacock" themed dining room was delicious. We will definitely go back with our husbands.

We drive the east coast from Florida to Virginia at least once a year. The last two years we have stopped at the Bloomsbury Inn on the way up. It is such a lovely property and Bruce and Katherine make you feel so welcome. The afternoon social is a special treat and breakfast the next morning starts the second leg of our trip perfectly.

We go out of our way to stay at this B&B whenever we are in South Carolina. We love Camden, we love this house! The owners are AMAZING.

Katherine and Bruce are welcoming, helpful and entertaining hosts. From the daily 5:30 Social hour to the Gourmet breakfasts, all your needs and wishes are handled seamlessly. We stayed in the absolutely charming Mary Chestnut bedroom; large, filled with antiques and totally charming. Actually, all 4 bedrooms are large and lovely. The place has history and you feel it and just give into it.

This was our 3rd visit to the Bloomsbury Inn. The Bloomsbury Inn is truly the best of the best. Amazing house rich in history, beautifully decorated, well maintained. Host Bruce and Katherine are wonderful. They want and strive to make every quest feel welcome. They go above and beyond and you can not leave without thinking "I can't wait to come back" Ronnie and Judy Vicars

I recently walked across the state of South Carolina, 260 miles, to raise money and awareness for the children of Bwa Chandel, Haiti. I spent one night at The Bloomsbury Inn when I passed through beautiful Camden, My room and bath offered incredible comfort for my road weary self. I am very happy I treated myself to one night of comfort in a grueling two week trek, Breakfast sustained me the next day as did the memory of a lovely evening.

We greatly enjoyed our visit and were really impressed with everything. We particularly liked the way our hosts provided us with background history and a detailed description of where all of the wonderful food came from (mostly local farms)
The most masculine king bed chamber of Bloomsbury, washed in deep jewel colors, is named for James Chesnut, the youngest of 13 children in a wealthy South Carolina family who owned twenty-five square miles of plantation land. His parents, James Chesnut, Sr, and Mary Cox Chesnut, built Bloomsbury in 1854 for their daughter Sally. An 1837 graduate of the College of New Jersey "Princeton", James served 12 years in the South Carolina legislature before becoming a US Senator. He resigned his Senate seat after the 1860 presidential election to return home to serve on the committee that drafted the South Carolina secession ordinance. After Bull Run, he served on the staff of President Jefferson Davis. In April 1864, James received a field duty assignment and was appointed a Brigadier General. This elegant king bed chamber is named for Mary Boykin Chesnut, wife of James Chesnut, a woman of society in the best sense, noted for her personal warmth, great wit and acute mind. In her daily journal, 48 thin volumes, which eventually became A Diary of Dixie, she brought life to the daily tribulations and human dimensions of the Civil War. In this very house, 12 June 1865, she wrote, "And yet from my window I look out on many a gallant youth and maiden fair. The street is crowded, and it is a gay sight...They call the walk in front of Bloomsbury the boulevard". This 20' by 20' room (newly renovated) features a king-sized iron bed, a large in-room sitting area, an art deco secretariat desk, a private dressing area, all season fireplace and private en suite bath.
A Robin's egg blue bed chamber with matching Italian tile bath represents Mary Chesnut's sister's children: the "Sweet Williams". The Sweet Williams were the favored nieces and nephews, and they were frequent visitors at Bloomsbury. Mary wrote that the Sweet Williams were much like their Mother, Kate?most agreeable and of good character. This 20' by 14' room hosts a tall, queen-sized rice bed, a writing table, two comfortable wingback reading chairs, all season fireplace and private en suite bath.
The garden bed chamber! Miss Sarah "Sally" Chesnut, sister of James Chesnut, Jr., inherited Bloomsbury upon the passing of her parents. Although she lived many years in the home, she was most proud of her presence of mind and cool self-possession in the face of the enemy. Mary Chestnut recorded in her diary Sally?s experience. When one Yankee Officer came into Bloomsbury, while everyone was seated for breakfast, "Rebels have no rights," Sally said politely. "I suppose you have come to rob us. Please do so and go". The man jumped back in rage and left empty-handed. Following the war, the Chesnuts sold eggs to maintain Bloomsbury. This 20' by 14' room is truly a garden fair, featuring an iron queen-sized bed, two comfortable wing-backed reading chairs, a lawyer?s bookcase desk/writing area, all season fireplace and private en suite bath.
