Although it is located between two Carriage Houses, this B&B is only a block or so from the City Market and is located directly across the street from Cru, one of Charleston's most trendy restaurants. There are only 5 rooms. We stayed in the Parisian, which was comfortable, but small. The B & B only provides you with a DYI continental breakfast, but we knew that before we booked. Also, there is only parking for 3 small cars behind the building and on street parking is very limited. This is a good choice for the budget minded traveler.

Very helpful staff, especially the manager Martha. The room was comfortable, and adequate. The bed and bedding were good. The room, however, had a selection of old mis-matched furniture, which needed some maintenance, eg, knobs broken off, no handle on a draw, no plug in bathroom sink. The inner shower curtain was mouldy. Breakfast is self service in the kitchen from a selection of breads, cheese, ham, cereals, instant oatmeal and grits, and cakes and fruit. It is all very informal. We were told we could help ourselves to food from the fridge any time of day, which was great, so we came back at lunchtime and made ourselves bagels, and sat on the piazza in the sunshine eating them, which was very pleasant. The place has a relaxed feel, and great staff. I think it just needs some tlc to bring it up to a higher standard.

My wife and I stayed in the small cottage room. It was fine, clean and quaint. The bathroom is a bit cramped. If a person dropped the soap in the shower, good luck retrieving it, and the mini toilet could be a challenge for some. As advertised, the house is near everything. Parking is limited, but public parking is an easy walk away. All and all, a good value.

We thought the Inn just needed some "tender loving care" to bring it up to how it is portrayed on line. The outside needs paint and attention. The room was clean enough but more attention to the detail cleaning would be nice. Not really anyplace to "hang out" other than the very narrow porch which was crowded. We probably wouldn't stay there again, but we did enjoy being so close to everything that we wanted to see. It was great to have a place to leave out care. Charleston is beautiful and we were more interested in the city than in the Inn. The price was worth what we got compared to other places we priced. Next visit we will probably upgrade where we stay.

It was always a long wait to get any response from Martha and the last question about parking was not answered until we arrived. Jack was great in that he was helpful, answered any questions we had, and helped turn our large vehicle around in the parking area.

We spent the weekend in Charleston and found this inn to be perfect for our needs. Parking is a bit tight but once there, we walked everywhere we needed to go for the weekend. The rooms were perfect. Hostess was very nice and went out of our way to help us. They had a small continental breakfast in the morning. It is only one block away from the straw market so easy to walk everywhere.

This is a very charming place to stay in a great location, walking distance from pretty much anything you want to see in historic Charleston. The rooms were clean and beautifully detailed and the staff was nice and friendly. The only thing that could have made it better was if the breakfast was not make it yourself.

Stayed here to celebrate my wife's birthday. It was the perfect spot. Close to shops and restaurants. The room was great and had a great historic feel to it. We enjoyed the fruit offered to us and decided to eat somewhere else for breakfast.

Palmer's Pinckney Inn has a lot of charm. It's manager, Martha Beasley, does it all: cleans and prepares the rooms, washes the linens and towels, and sets up the kitchen for breakfast. However, she also manages the "sister" B&B (Palmer House, which is about a mile+ walk) and is not on site all the time. It needs some TLC and upkeep, such as removing old deadbolt locks and repairing the doors and frames where they were. Air conditioning and the electrical systems need to be improved.as well. The furnishings are nice.
