We stayed at Clementine's at the end of our week trip to Portland, Sublimity, and Astoria, and it was an unexpected delight! The room we stayed in for the four of us was charming, the breakfast was one of our favorite meals on the trip, and Judith was a most gracious hostess! We would highly recommend this Bed and Breakfast!

My husband and I have stayed at Clementine's three times now. Why do we keep coming back?? Because truly it is one of the sweetest, most darling B B's we have ever stayed in. (and we've been to quite a few!) Judith is warm, a little quirky with a great sense of humor-and a terrific cook! We love Clementine's so very much that we travel all the way from the desert Southwest to get there! A bonus is that it is located to the Oregon Coast which in itself is breathtaking.

Since this was a very affordable $95 for our 1-night stay, I was not expecting too much - how wrong I was! Judith is a hoot, and she was able to come right back at my husband with all his teasing. With the comfortable living room, it felt like we were staying at a family member's house - but Judith did not hover and we had it to ourselves after getting settled in. We traveled with another couple and took the 2 ground floor rooms. An older Victorian, very cute decor and excellent bathroom toiletries. Do be prepared to walk up steps to get into the house; Astoria is built on a hilly terrain. If you are very fit, consider walking to the Astoria Column (we drove). We went to the Silver Salmon for dinner and had perhaps the best meal of our 18-day vacation. It seemed a bit pricey, but portions are huge, the sauces and foods deftly prepared, and plated beautifully. Judith prepared a healthy and delicious breakfast, very much appreciated. We sat around a dining room table and were able to watch her putter around in the kitchen preparing the meal and chatting with her. It was just a very informal and comfortable feeling - we will most certainly look to stay here again!

This was our first B&B stay and it set a high standard for future experiences. The room and bed were excellent, though as a previous reviewer mentioned, there is a little traffic noise in the mornings. Yes, there are stairs, but it is a Victorian home on a hillside so they are to be expected. The best part of Clementine's is Judith, the innkeeper. She graciously welcomed our boisterous group, including two dogs and a puppy, and created gourmet breakfasts in the morning. We were so pleased that she agreed to join us around the outdoor fire to share in local crab and wine.

Beautiful turn-of-the-century (fun) home. Very impressed. Our host was more than generous with her services. Location not very desirable due to traffic noise. Other than that, loved it.

Thank you for your favorable review. The location of Clementine's B&B makes it easy to leave your car parked in front of the inn for the entire weekend and walk to our charming and interesting city and river front for touring, sightseeing and dining. Because we are located in the historic district on one of the main streets through the city in a commercial area it does affect the noise level, mostly during the day. But the city shuts down early and most of our residential traffic settles down nicely. We do have rooms located away from the street on the back side of the property which might be better for those who are light sleepers.

We stayed at Clementine's B&B. The layout of the rooms was very odd. Judith first wanted to put us upstairs, but the upstairs rooms were removed from the rest of the house and seemed very isolated. Plus, the bathroom of the room where we were going to stay was down a public hallway (even though the bathroom itself was private). I requested that she put us in a room on the main floor that had its bathroom connected to the room itself, and that was much better. I ended up getting very ill on the trip with fever and chills/flu symptoms, etc. Judith was kind, but didn't even ask us if we would like to leave early seeing as how the circumstances of our visit had changed. I would have appreciated the ability to leave early with one of the nights refunded, but as it was, we stayed. I was very cold the first night (with chills, etc.), and Judith wasn't able to give us enough additional blankets nor raise the heat enough to make the temperature more cozy. I am allergic to down feathers, so granted we weren't using the down comforter, but I did make Judith aware of this prior to our stay. I would have wanted some additional blankets at least. Also, there weren't enough washcloths in the rooms. The food was very good. Judith is an excellent cook. I would have wanted a bit larger portions, though. Overall, especially understanding the circumstances, the stay was good. I would like to try out this B&B again when I'm not so sick.

I know what it's like traveling away from home and getting sick. Not nice, especially when you're on vacation. Times like that nothing really counts except feeling better. As far as issues like little/no heat, no blankets, linen, bathroom II would like to address them one by one. You must have overlooked the fact that each of our rooms have electric cadet wall heaters which are controlled by guests and/or electrick fireplaces or both. Blankets are easy to provide and normally we have extras in the room -- possibly not during the stay; we provide and replace washclothes each day they are used and each room has 4 towels and handtowels; no ensuite bath? you were probably in the Sunriser Room. The room is the only one which has a separated bath down hall, but is exclusively private. We provide spa robes for all rooms in case someone wants to step out of the room or come to breakfast in one!! All in all, if you weren't comfortable, it doesn't matter how to address things when you feel really bad.

Thank you Judith for a wonderful 2-night stay in late December. Little did we know our wedding place, the Clatsop County Courthouse, was just a few steps away! Judith took some photos for us in Clementine's - what a hoot! Fantastic friendly breakfasting too. Definitely a great idea for those being married in Astoria -- Courthouse wedding or not! Also, best bed we stayed in, entire trip! With fond memories, Tracy and Farley

Hostess friendly, food good, bed and room comfortable. Access was too many step stairs and parking was difficult. House decorated with period 1800-1900 antiques. A great grand piano to play in common room.
Petit French violet-patterned wallpaper enhances the French Violet Room and has a large antique iron queen size bed with modern comfort mattress and period chandelier. The en-suite private bath has tiled flooring and is equipped with a shower. The room is carpeted for comfort, warmth and quiet. An antique love seat provides a place for a good read or meditation. Heating emanates from an electric fireplace. A large private balcony with outdoor seating for two encourages relaxing and ship-watching and offers magnificent views of the Columbia River, the Astoria Column and the town of Astoria and our own pergola in the backyard. The room is very quiet and you will not be aware of any other guests in the house.
The Clementine?s Suite is a large luxurious suite in romantic tones with apricot and green wallpaper and two antique iron queen size beds with over-head crystal chandeliers. A dedicated sitting area for two offers a place for reading and relaxation and river views. A large private balcony provides a birds-eye view of the Flavel House Mansion and gardens across the street and fantastic views of the Columbia River where ship traffic is frequent and sometimes exotic. The mountain views across the river in Washington State are four miles away! The room is heated by Jodel gas fireplace with live flame that mesmerizes. There is stylized tiled flooring in the ensuite private bathroom with shower. The room is quiet and seems isolate from house activities.
The Sunriser Room is a comfortably elegant, small and cozy room embellished with butter yellow décor, spectacular views of Columbia River through a huge bay window that captures the morning light. There is an antique iron queen size bed that is supremely comfortable, a sparkling over-bed crystal chandelier, and a large over-stuffed chair and ottoman for enjoying an amazing river view from inside the room. A private balcony with seating for two outside makes you feel like you're perched in a tree house. The sunny bathroom with a tub and shower a few steps from the room across the hall provides exclusive use for Sunriser occupants .
The Garden Room is a main floor room with lovely fresh green and floral inspired motif, and a unique embossed antique tin ceiling with crystal chandelier. North-facing windows enjoy the shade-garden views, and the queen size antique iron bed offers a wonderful nights rest. The private ensuite tiled-floor bathroom has abundant counter space for toiletries and has a shower/tub combo. The room has seating for two and is carpeted for warmth & quiet. This room is accessible without any stairs. Please inquire.
The School Room is a main floor room that catches morning sun from the south with a view of the cutting garden and backyard pergola. Cool rich periwinkle blue wall color provides great background for view of garden sun-lighted room. A turn-of-the-century schoolhouse motif is displayed in a few artifacts. A queen size antique iron bed and seating for two invites relaxation and privacy. Included is a private ensuite bath with shower and tub combo. The room is carpeted for warmth and quiet. Moose Lodge Suite I is the more spacious room of the two suites. It has a queen size bed with ensuite private bath and large shower, writing desk and comfortable wing chair for reading. It sits in a portion of the historic construction with original wood floors and windows. A small cadet wall heater heats the space. This room opens into the common space and is pet and family friendly. The common area provides a kitchen with small refrigerator, electric cook top, small sink and a convection/microwave combo. The space is equipped with toaster, coffee pot, dishes,flatware and cooking equipment. There is also cable TV, a large dining table and comfortable seating as well. The common space is heated by gas fireplace. The common area exits to a large deck with table and chairs and a gas grill. This space is pet and family friendly. Breakfast will be delivered to guests who rent both rooms.

Riverview Loft -- large 'cottage' style suite on 2 levels next door to Clementine's B&B; does not include breakfast. Capacity: 2 to 6 The Riverview Loft is a spacious two-level suite with west-facing private entrance facing 8th Street. The main floor looks out to an intimate side garden where guests enjoy private seating. The suite is pet-friendly. The main floor of the suite includes a comfortable, sitting area with rattan love seat and oversize chair. The space has a wood floor on first floor and is heated by a gas fireplace. A dining area is provided in common area and in the kitchen. There is a queen bed, a full kitchen, and a small private bath with shower making it ideal for double occupancy rental and easy access with no stairs. The second floor bedroom has a cottage-style pitched ceiling with a skylight which is the old attic, is large and furnished with two full size beds. Adding this space will increase occupancy to six. A private bath in the upper floor bedroom offers a Jacuzzi bathtub. From a small private balcony on north side of the room guests can enjoy a view of the Columbia River and Flavel House Museum and gardens. A minimum two night reservation is required but is ideal for longer stays. The quoted rate is for occupancy of 4, however, the capacity can accommodate up to 6 people when using the main floor queen bed. The extra person charge is $25 adult $15/each child 12 years and under. Again, this suite is pet and family friendly. Breakfast is not included. The private bedrooms share a comfortable, spacious common area with wonderful beamed ceiling and skylights. It also has a small kitchen, large dining/game table, comfortable sitting area with a large futon couch (which makes into queen size bed). The space is heated with a large gas fireplace. This common area is accessed by a private entrance from a large deck (wheel chair accessible) with tables and chairs and a view of the Flavel House Museum Mansion and gardens. It is uniquely situated with Clementine's Bed and Breakfast in the National Historic District just a short walk to the Columbia River waterfront and the historic downtown district.
