I cannot tell you how much my family enjoyed our stay at the Golden Stage Inn B&B. We got lucky when we called last minute because someone else had just canceled. Julie and Mike were the perfect B&B hosts. The house was beautiful and spotless. The daily cookies, hot cider, and of course breakfast were all outstanding. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THE GOLDEN STAGE INN BED AND BREAKFAST.

I usually get homesick after a few days into the vacation. This is the FIRST time that I did not, because I felt so overwhelmingly at home at the Inn. Now I'm back at home, and I am HOMESICK FOR THE GOLDEN STAGE INN!!!

Innkeepers Mike and Julie are two of the nicest people you can meet! This was my wife and I's first adventure at a bed and breakfast and it was awesome. Being "younger" (I, 31 and my wife, 27) we always thought of a B&B as something for older people. Our naive-ness made us think of B&Bs as forced social community with a shared bathroom. Boy were we wrong here. Not only did we have our own bathroom, but we enjoyed the brief conversations we had with fellow patrons and never felt obligated to be social. We've stayed at all different hotels and they all paled in comparison to the service we at Golden Stage. Mike and Julie truly care about their guests and ensure all their needs are met. Whether you need activity suggestions, dinner reservations, or just want to learn about beekeeping Mike and Julie are available to help. The afternoon soup, hot cider, and cookies are alone worth the trip. And the breakfast! Simple, healthy, satisfying, and full of flavor. We stayed in the Otis room and it was the quintessential New England farmhouse room. The newly refinished wide-plank wood floors were spectacular! The gas fireplace keeps you nice and toasty adding great ambiance. The private bathroom rivaled an upscale hotel. Radiant heated tile floors, air jetted tub, vessel bathroom sink. Our room offered great privacy, we never heard a peep from the patrons in neighboring rooms. The formal sitting room on the first floor was inviting and a cozy place to just sit, hang out, play a board game, or drink a glass of wine. The whole house/facility was immaculately clean. Seriously, sterile clean. It is very impressive. You can tell Mike and Julie have a high degree of pride in their B&B. In total our stay was excellent. I can't find one thing I would improve or wish was different. I highly recommend you stay with Mike and Julie. My wife and I will definitely be back. 5 Stars across the board. If this is your first inn/B&B experience, this is the place to do it!

We spent two nights here over Christmas and it was truly a great stay. We researched a lot of places in the area and are very pleased we chose Golden Stage. There are many things that elevate this B&B to a 5-star rating. The breakfasts (one of the deciding factors in selecting Golden Stage) were exquisite. The attention to detail throughout the Inn and during the stay was top notch. Also, and most importantly, the aforementioned hospitality was exceptional and consistent, exceeding our high expectations. We felt right at home as if we were spending time with our family. We will definitely without a doubt return to Golden Stage Inn. On a side note, I went snowboarding nearby at Okemo on Christmas Day. While the weather was over 50 degrees the snowmaking was done very well on the trails that were open. Okemo was very close and convenient and the snowboarding was great.

Another "thank you!" ...both for staying with us, and for taking the time to leave such a great review. Looking forward to getting a bunch of snow so we can welcome you back here!

We spent a wonderful weekend at the Golden Stage during our 'leaf peeping' trip to VT. Though a bit away from all the 'action' in Proctorsville, the inn is ideal for those who are looking to enjoy the true VT experience. We easily drove across the state for our leaves, and came back each evening to a nice quiet room. Breakfasts are gourmet and will leave you not needing lunch. The grounds are nice to stroll and meet Puck, a very friendly chicken, who will eat from your hand. Nelly made us feel right at home, and made us miss our 4-legged friend a bit less.

Thanks for your great comments! (Nelly's always getting compliments online, but Puck will be so flattered that she made it into a review!) Really, we're glad you enjoyed your stay. Being one step removed from the action, yet an easy drive to anything you want to do, is something we take great pleasure in. So glad it worked well for you too!

Named for the author and actress Cornelia Otis Skinner, a former resident of this home, the room captures the rural character of Cornelia's country home of the late 1800's, yet boasts a small gas fireplace and a fully renovated (July 2014) bathroom. The new bathroom offers a spacious shower, nearly twice the size of what our returning guests remember. The room decor was not altered much during the renovation; we simply added the fireplace and en-suite vessel sink, maintaining the original wide pine floor and the fun farm-themed wallpaper with its warm tones of earthy red and and brown.
Fully renovated as of July 2014, this room offers a Queen Sized bed with luxury mattress, a gas fireplace, a small sitting area, and a flat screened TV. Step up two stairs and enjoy the completely updated bathroom with a heated tile floor, a beautiful (one person) jetted tub, and an antique vanity with vessel sink. The pictures on our website do not yet reflect the room renovations. If you'd like to see some images before booking, contact us and we?ll email some snapshots.
Enjoy our immaculate Okemo inn. Beds can be arranged as two twins or one luxurious king. Facing south, this sun-filled room also has an antique vanity and pillowed chair for relaxing. Named for Reverend Warren Skinner, a Universalist preacher of the mid-1800's and the patriarch of this home for many years. He and his family are buried in the cemetery across the way. This room has a private bath (with stall shower).
In order to have the bed configured the way you would like before your arrival, on the final reservation page please note your preference of two twins or one king bed for your stay.
Tasteful wallpaper and shades of burgundy make this room a frequent favorite of many guests. Its cherry finish sleigh bed cradles a new extra deep (and extra high) luxury mattress. The room is named for Reverend Warren Skinner's eldest son, who reportedly took several years to return when sent on a simple errand to buy some sugar. This room has a private bath with a stall shower.
Two private bedrooms share one bathroom, making this suite ideal for a family of four or two couples looking to save a few dollars. Both bedrooms have small flat-screened TV/DVD players and closets with terrycloth robes. The private bathroom is fully updated, with a luxury tiled shower and a copper vessel sink resting upon an antique oak vanity.
Room 1: Queen-size bed with a gas fired "woodstove."
Room 2: Two twins or one king.
In order to have the bed in Room 2 configured the way you would like before your arrival, on the final reservation page please note your preference of two twins or one king bed for your stay.
Ideal for families, these two adjoining bedrooms share one fully updated bathroom. One room has two twin beds and a small pull-out couch (appropriate for one child); the second bedroom has a queen bed. Both rooms have a small flat screened TV/DVDs and a closet with terrycloth robes. The bathroom is up two stairs and has a spacious tiled shower and a beautiful handmade porcelain vessel sink resting upon an antique wooden vanity.
Rate is based on a maximum of four people. Additional $25 per night for a fifth person. Please note: There is a door between the rooms, but those staying in the room with the twin beds must walk through the other room to get to the bathroom.
Maya's Room is on the first floor and is wheelchair accessible. It has a queen bed, dresser, armchair, and small TV. Its private bath has a large shower (no tub). The room has private access to the shared front porch. This room is named for Maya Angelou and honors the inn's reported history as a stop on the Underground Railroad.
The antique oak full sized bed has a feather-topped mattress and a half-wall partition separates the bedroom from the private bath (with stall shower). Slender French doors open to a tiny but quaint private porch. In the original part of the building (c.1788) in the front of the house, the Old Stage Room recalls the inn's earliest history as a stagecoach stop.
